2014 Brings in a BIG year for SDC
2014 will celebrate Skyline Drive Corvette Club's 50th Anniversary!
Fifty years brings with it many memories and lots of great history of
events, members, and Club happenings as well as the evaluation of
the Corvette it's self. We are lucky enough to still have some of those
charter members in the club today! Barry Goodhart, the 2014 club
President, is one of those Charter members.
Cruising Penn Street in Reading on weekends was the thing to do in
the early SIXTIES. Being a corvette cruiser you wanted to meet all the
other corvette cruising and talk corvettes!!! These first meeting and vette discussions usually took place at the parking lot in the city park of Reading, in the fall of 1963 and spring of 1964. From the humble beginnings in 1964 to today in 2014 the goal of the club remains the same. To bond with other Corvette enthusiast and have a great and safe time with their cars. Now in 2014 SDC averages close to 300 members each year.
SDC will be celebrating all year long with many club events starting with a week long trip to Bowling Green in May. In June we have our community wide Anniversary and In-Vette-Tational celebration with a full day of events. In July it will be off on a cruise to Bermuda as well as an expanded club meeting. In October we will be traveling again with a weeks long lap of PA. Ending 2014 will be the SDC Christmas Party.
These are some of the highlights coming for SDC in 2014. I am sure there will be many more day trips and gatherings for the club and we hope to see you along the way. "Save the Wave"
